In an effort to make the trails of the Moonraker network a little more user friendly, GCC has combined a few trails and their names as outlined below.  Some trails have been removed from the map.  The attached image below can be enlarge and shows these changes.

1. Wapiti Ridge will now extend to encompass the line of trails running all the way from the canyon to the Sander Lake Road.  This means that part of Private Lands Trail and all of the east side section of Ptarmigan Trot have been renamed to “Wapiti Ridge”.  The only changes here are the naming convention.  Signage and maps will reflect the change.

2. Klayhowya will now extend to encompass the line of trails running all the way from the canyon to Sander Lake Road.  This means that the west side section of Ptarmigan Trot has been renamed to “Klahowya”.  The only changes here are the naming convention.  Signage and maps will reflect the change.  Points “1” and “2” here mean that the name Ptarmigan Trot will no loner be used for any trail in the Moonrakers.

3. Windigo Chute will be removed from the map.  By removing Windigo from the map, GCC believes that riders who are unfamiliar with the trails will not get suckered into riding up that skidder-road of a trail.  The map will also be a little cleaner and make for easier route planning. The trail itself will remain unchanged for those who wish to ride it.  It just won’t be on the map or website.

4. Kissime Ridge will be removed from the map.  By removing Kissime from the map, GCC believes that riders who are unfamiliar with the trails are more likely to avoid this seldom used trail.  The trail itself will remain unchanged for those who wish to ride it.  It just won’t be on the map or website.

5. In addition, a new connecting trail in the area of the above trails has been grubbed out.  It is called Easy Out.  It has been there for years as an unnamed skidder trail, but now it’s legit.

THANK YOU to the RESORT MUNICIPALITY INITIATIVE (RMI) for providing funds for trail signs!
